The Tax Leaders Expert Guide 2020 is live

The Tax Leaders Expert Guide, the leading international publication that lists the world’s top tax advisors, has released its results for 2020. The latest research cycle has been the most comprehensive to date by reaching out to more individuals than ever before.

For the first time, the Tax Leaders Expert Guide was published in partnership with World Tax, the leading tax ranking of firms and individuals, so that all listed tax leaders appear both on expertguides.com and itrworldtax.com.

The survey reveals that in 2020, Europe accounts for the most tax advisors, followed by North America and the Latin America and Caribbean region. Several leaders are also recognised in the Asia-Pacific, while there has been significant growth in the number of advisors across the Middle East and Africa.

From the Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte recorded the greatest number of nominees, followed by experts from EY, KPMG and PwC. There has also been a rise in tax lawyers recognised from international law firms, with Baker McKenzie topping the list. Other firms with a significant presence in the guide include CMS, Loyens & Loeff, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and DLA Piper.

How the best are selected?

Legal Media Group approaches business practitioners, clients and industry experts across the world. They are invited to nominate individuals to be recognised as leading tax advisors. Reasons and additional background information are sought for all nominations in order to determine why an individual should be included in the list. The criteria includes displaying excellence across expertise, technical knowledge, reputation, innovation and contribution to their practice area’s development.
