European Awards shortlists published

The winners will receive their awards in London in May.

The shortlists for International Tax Review's European Tax Awards have been announced. The three awards specifically for tax disputes are European tax disputes firm of the year, the ECJ firm of the year for direct tax and the ECJ firm for indirect tax.

Deloitte is the only firm to be nominated for the European award and at least one ECJ prize. Its nomination for ECJ firm of the year for indirect tax comes from its representation before the Luxembourg court of Everything Everywhere, the UK mobile telecommunications company, in a case concerning the VAT liability for additional fees paid by non-direct debit customers.

Forbes Hall (Axa), McGrigors (Weald Leasing) and MacRoberts (RBS Deutschland) are other UK firms shortlisted for the ECJ firm of the year for indirect tax.

The three firms nominated for the ECJ direct tax award are all from Continental Europe: Choucroy, Gadiou et Chevallier (Rimbaud); Maisto e Associati(Ferrero/General Beverage Europe)  and Kleyr Grasso Associes (Tankreederei I).

The winners of these and the other awards will be revealed during a dinner at the Dorchester Hotel in London on May 18.
