Hilco Real Estate Appraisals hires McGrath for property tax division

Daniel McGrath has joined Hilco Real Estate Appraisals as managing director of its new fixed asset tax optimisation services practice within the firm’s property tax division. He will lead a team in building a fixed asset services practice, principally focused on helping real estate owners throughout the US understand and devise strategies to improve their federal tax position.

McGrath was formerly the Midwest Region practice leader and national quality assurance leader for the fixed asset services group at Grant Thornton and Central Region leader of cost segregation services for Ernst & Young.

Hilco Appraisal Services specialises in appraising and assessing the market value of inventory, machinery and equipment, intellectual property, full enterprises and real estate. The company also provides financial reporting and compliance valuations as well as dispute resolution support. Hilco Appraisal Services customers may be lenders, private equity and hedge funds, lawyers, investment banks, governments and general corporate entities that must establish the market value of business assets as collateral for financings, merger and acquisition transactions or for accounting, reporting, compliance and tax matters.
