Biography

A partner and National Head of Advaita Legal, Sujit founded Advaita in 2013. With around 23 years of experience, Sujit is considered a pioneer in indirect tax laws in India and has received numerous local and international accolades. An "arguing counsel" in the field of taxation, he has represented multinationals before different judicial fora.

Recent matter highlights

  • Represented CGPL before CESTAT, Mumbai. He formulated a strategy whereby, he applied certain Constitutional law principles, while challenging some of the more egregious actions of the Department. The Tribunal passed a favorable order.

  • Represented Vedanta Limited in challenging the constitutionality of the Department's circular, which denied the assessee the benefit of levying tax at a reduced rate.

  • Represented KPMG in a matter involving the recovery of significant tax benefits under the FT

Biography
