Eiger’s Taipei office is a member of the WTS Global tax group. The team is experienced in providing tax counselling and advice on entity setup, transactions, preferential tax rate applications and related issues. It offers tax services including corporate and individual income tax, basic income tax/AMT, business tax/VAT, customs duties and transfer pricing enquiries. Partner John Eastwood and of counsel Michael Werner are the key practitioners in the team.
Recent examples of the firm’s work have seen it actively providing tax advice for various clients including a major French corporation.
Consisting of over 300 professionals across five offices, the team at KPMG in Taiwan leverages its global network to assist both domestic and international clients. It has a dedicated BEPS team that is at the forefront of the BEPS landscape also regularly communicates with the Ministry of Finance for first-hand knowledge on the progression of international tax matters.
During the research period, the team served as tax advisor and represented a Taiwan multinational listed corporation for tax refund application. The work included applying for a consecutive five-year foreign tax credit and corporate income tax return correction. The total tax refund involved approximately TWD 70 million.
