FAQs

Q: Can firms pay to be ranked?
A: No. Our rankings are based entirely on the independent research carried out by our researchers.

Q: When does the research start?
A: We announce the research in January each year and submissions are due in March.

Q: My firm only wants to submit for World Transfer Pricing. Is this possible?
A: Yes, while the research form allows you to submit for both World Tax and World Transfer Pricing at the same time, you can submit for one or other of the projects by just including the relevant information in the research form. When you submit your research form online you can select whether you are submitting for World Tax, World Transfer Pricing or both.

Q: Our firm wants to give feedback on the current rankings how do we provide this?
A: Our research team undertakes a large number of telephone and face to face interviews during each research cycle where we ask for feedback on our rankings. In addition we also undertake a Practitioner Survey which is sent to leading individuals in the market allowing them to provide feedback on the rankings and recommend individuals from other firms.

Q: Our firm is ranked but there is no accompanying editorial, why is this?
A: Our editorial policy states that we only provide accompanying text on a law firm’s practice if they have engaged with the research process. This is to ensure that we are providing accurate information to our readership.

Q: Can we recommend individuals from our firm for the Indirect Tax, Women in Tax and Tax Controversy Leaders Guides?
A: When you submit your research form there is an opportunity to highlight key individuals and rising stars from your tax and transfer pricing practices. However please be aware that recognition in any of our guides is based on market feedback and track record.

Q: Our firm has won an ITR award but we are not in the 1st tier in your table. Why is this?
A: The International Tax Review (ITR) awards focus solely on performance in the last 12 months. The World Tax and World Transfer Pricing rankings are a reflection of a firm’s long-term track record in the market.

Q: How do we take part in the ITR annual awards process?
A: Details of the various awards run by International Tax Review (ITR) and TP Week can be found at http://www.internationaltaxreview.com/Awards.html

Q: If we submit client referee details will they be put on any mailing lists?
A: No. All client referee details submitted to us are treated as confidential and we only use the information to contact individuals as part of our Client Feedback Survey.

Q: Our firm has just completed a major piece of client work but the details of it and our role are confidential, can we still submit this information?
A: Yes, but please ensure that all confidential information is marked in RED. Our researchers will consider this information for the research but we will not publish any details of it.

Q: Our firm has strict client confidentiality rules and we cannot provide any client referees, will this have an impact on our ranking?
A: Client feedback is very important to our research and we encourage firms to submit referees as part of the process. We do not penalize firms for not providing referees however please be aware that positive client feedback greatly enhances a firm’s chances of improving its ranking.
