Tax

Deloitte, a Big Four company, provides direct and indirect tax services to businesses and individuals across a wide range of industries, with a thorough understanding of local and global tax issues. It is one of Cyprus's largest tax practices, with six partners specialising in indirect tax, private client, and international tax. Antonis Taliotis, a partner, leads the tax and legal practice, which is supported by a dedicated team of tax partners and directors. The indirect tax service line is managed by Christos Papamarkides, a Deloitte Cyprus partner. Harris Kleanthous is Deloitte Cyprus director and transfer pricing practice leader.

During the research period the firm offered tax advisory/structuring work, SPA agreement, and substantial due diligence work for the potential acquisition of a Cyprus company, allowing a significant client to expand its educational sector activities to Cyprus. A multinational construction corporation also received TP analysis and a Master File Report from the team.

It was also a memorable night for Galicia, KPMG, Skadden and Pinheiro Neto, all of which scooped major awards at a gala ceremony in New York
The former Deloitte UK CEO earned a 45% raise in a year when 1,000 staff reportedly lost their jobs – and the pay gap is only getting bigger
Kristine Riisberg warned that TP decisions can determine top-up tax exposure under pillar two, while global consensus over the rules remains unsettled
The allegations against Deloitte Cyprus raise uncomfortable questions about how far the big four can distance themselves from misconduct at member firms
The big four firm allegedly reviewed backdated documents and signed off on accounts that removed hundreds of millions of dollars of Abramovich’s assets
Death, taxes and Deloitte hoovering up trophies at an ITR awards night. Isn’t that the saying?
Awards
It was another banner year for Deloitte, which picked up more awards than any other firm at a gala ceremony held at The Londoner in Leicester Square
Ethics seems to be playing a subservient role to an entitlement culture borne out of a pervasive ‘revenue at all costs’ mentality at the big four
