Claire Acard joined Andersen International in 1986 and became a partner of the firm in 1995. She is an attorney and a member of the Hauts-de-Seine bar.

Acard's specific expertise includes the taxation of banking activities and financial techniques, worldwide tax reviews of banking and financial institutions with major international networks, business restructuring and specific assignments for national and European institutions.

Within Andersen, she is a member of the European team responsible for research and development, as well as the European team responsible for the banking and financial sector.

Acard is also in charge of the development of Andersen Legal's tax services in the financial service industry sector and conducts international comparative studies in the financial sector.

Acard is a lecturer in international corporate tax law in the joint University of Paris II – HEC program (major in international legal and fiscal strategy) from October to December 1996.

Chris Adams is an international tax partner based in London. He is the global leader of Andersen's supply chain tax group and the UK and European head of transfer pricing. His focus is global and pan-European transfer pricing, particularly in the context of tax supply chain restructuring projects, primarily for US and European multinationals. He also chairs Andersen's European international tax think tank – charged with developing cross-border planning ideas and is a member of Andersen's global international tax leadership group.

Adams has more than 20 years of international tax experience covering the whole range of international tax issues. Over the last 10 years he has specialized increasingly in transfer pricing and founded Andersen's UK and European transfer pricing practices. With a strong background in cross-border tax planning, Adams has focused his transfer pricing work in this area bringing a strong supply chain focus.

William Cunningham is a tax partner in the Dublin office of Andersen, with more than 27 years of tax experience both in Ireland and abroad. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, a member and past Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFA Ireland, the Irish branch of the International Fiscal Association, and a member since 1975 of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland.

Cunningham founded and led Andersen's Portuguese tax practice from 1983 to 1995, developing it into the largest tax consulting practice in the country. He was involved in successful efforts to put in place a tax treaty between Portugal and the US after 33 years of negotiations and maintains a keen interest in international tax matters. He has extensive experience of working with inward investors, assisting them with their expansion in Europe and optimization of their global tax structures. He currently specializes in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors, and also heads the Andersenr expatriate tax practice in Dublin.

Eric Fourel joined Arthur Andersen International, member firm of Association d'Avocats Andersen Legal, in 1987 and specialized in international tax services while maintaining a general involvement on other tax areas and legal matters. He became a manager in 1991 and a partner in 1996. His dual qualifications in private law/public law, combined with his sound linguistic knowledge and a taste for multidisciplinary activities have enabled him to lead assignments and develop his legal and tax advisory activities mainly in two specific areas: international taxation; and complex international restructuring and cross-border acquisitions.

Fourel's primary industry focus is on communication and entertainment businesses and his main clients include leading advertising agencies, movie companies and television networks, and press key players. He is also responsible in the Paris office for tax matters related with e-business.

Fourel has a degree from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques of Paris, Public Service (1987) and a master in Business law (Paris II).

James M Gannon is a partner in Andersen LLP and practises in its Washington, DC Office of Federal Tax Services. He is a member of the firm's International Tax Specialty Team in which capacity he provides technical support to the firm's tax professionals and its multinational clients. His areas of concentration have been the tax-efficient structuring of intellectual property rights and cross-border electronic commerce. He is the lead tax partner for Andersen's electronic commerce initiative in the US and a member of the firm's global tax and legal electronic commerce advisory group.

Prior to joining the Office of Federal Tax Services, Gannon was the director, International Tax of Tupperware Corporation. In that capacity he was responsible for international tax planning and structuring at Tupperware. Before that, Gannon was a tax manager in the Chicago office of Andersen.

Gannon co-authored the chapter on international income taxation of electronic commerce in the Commerce Clearing House treatise titled CYBERTAXATION: The Taxation of E-Commerce. He has also authored or co-authored a number of articles, and has frequently spoken on international tax issues involving intellectual property and other issues.

Dr Hans van den Hurk is a tax partner with Andersen in the Netherlands and leader of Andersen's EU Competence Group. Van den Hurk established this group in June 2001. With a presence in 19 countries, the group includes professionals from all EU member states, as well as Norway, Switzerland, Poland and the US. The EU Competence Group addresses EC matters and EC-related problems in the EU, the European Economic Area, overseas territories and associated countries. Consisting of members from all of Andersen's service lines, the group has a particular emphasis in international taxation, human capital, VAT and customs.

Van den Hurk's specialty in EC matters began in 1991 when he published several articles on the new parent-subsidiary directive. In addition to being published in numerous tax periodicals, he has also authored several books, including Europees Gemeenschapsrecht en directe belastingen (EC law and direct taxes). Van den Hurk is the EC correspondent for the Bulletin of International Fiscal Documentation (published by IBFD).

Howard R Hull is a partner of Andersen in Geneva.

Massimiliano Mostardini graduated cum laude at the University of Milano and has more than nine years' experience in intellectual property law. He is the founding partner of IP/IT service line in Andersen Legal and he co-ordinates the Trademarks and Patents EMEIA Group.

In the past, Mostardini has workd in a highly reputed IP law firm, dealing with trademarks, patents and copyright law matters.

Hans Pijl studied linguistics, literature and law. He worked for the Dutch Revenue Service, and is now a partner with Andersen in Amsterdam.

Massimo Travostino, admitted to the Turin bar in 1996, has a specialization master in International Commercial Law and is an associate with Andersen Legal.

His activity focuses in advising on intellectual property issues (with a special focus on e-business and information technology related matters), commercial contracts and corporate reorganization, both in national and international operations. He is presently involved in structuring the central e-procurement system of the Italian public administration.

Peter Willeme joined Arthur Andersen in Amsterdam in 1983 and became partner in 1991. From 1993 until 2000 he was head of the Tax Division of the Amsterdam Office and from 1999 until 2000 he was office managing partner in Amsterdam.

In 1998 Willeme was appointed as leader of the International Tax Service Line in EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India and Africa) and in 2001 as global leader of the International Tax Service Line. In 1996, 1999, 2000 and 2001 he was ranked as one of the best tax advisers in the Netherlands by International Tax Review.

Willeme has published several articles on taxation in the technology and telecommunication industry in one of the leading Dutch computer magazines. He specializes in the taxation of financial instruments and his experience primarily relates to international taxation issues such as dual resident companies, joint ventures and hybrids. He lectures widely on such topics as commissionaires and residence taxation issues.
