Baker & McKenzie promotes nine to partnership

Baker & McKenzie has promoted nine members of its global tax group to the position of partner. Six of the promotions are effective July 1, while three promotions in North America were effective from January 1.

In the Asia-Pacific region, the firm announced the following new partners:

Pierre Chan (Hong Kong); Allen Tan (Singapore); Panya Sittisakonsin; and Aek Tantisattamo (both Bangkok).

In the US, Julia Medynskaya and John Paek moved up in New York, while Kirsten Malm, based in the San Francisco/Palo Alto office, was also promoted.

Trench, Rossi e Watanabe, associated with Baker & McKenzie International, elected to promote Juliana Assis and Mariana Vito in Brazil. Both work out of the firm’s Sao Paulo office.

“We have responded with confidence to client demands for more senior and experienced counsel from their outside law firms,” said Eduardo Leite, chairman of Baker & McKenzie’s Executive Committee.
