Julie Zhang is a partner of Mayer Brown and a registered foreign consultant (New York) of Mayer Brown JSM. Julie leads the China tax practice. She has extensive experience advising multinational corporations on the tax and legal implications of a wide range of PRC and international corporate and finance transactions. Julie focuses on foreign direct investment in China, including entry and exit strategies, M&A, private equity investments, supply chain management, employment issues and compliance issues. In recent years, Julie has also represented several large state-owned enterprises in their outbound investment projects, including taking a lead in two high-profile transactions.

Before returning to China, Julie worked in New York and Silicon Valley for five years. She advised on the US tax implications of a variety of complex US and international corporate and finance transactions and was also involved in the audit and appeals of several large tax matters.

Julie is ranked as a Leading Lawyer in Tax: PRC Law by Chambers Asia Pacific 2011. She is a regular speaker at conferences in Hong Kong and China on international and PRC taxation. She speaks both English and Mandarin.
