Ivins, Phillips & Barker adds Larry Axelrod to its partnership

Corporate tax lawyer Larry Axelrod has joined Ivins, Phillips & Barker’s Washington, D.C. practice as a partner.

Axelrod, who most recently served as special counsel to the IRS associate chief counsel, joined the firm’s corporate group and will serve as leader of the firm’s consolidated tax return and M&A tax practices.

Axelrod’s expertise covers federal income taxation, with a particular emphasis on M&A, internal restructuring, spin-off, debt versus equity and consolidated return matters. Prior to working for the IRS, he served as a partner in Deloitte’s tax group in Washington D.C. for more than 20 years where he advised on complex corporate tax issues.
