Technology, Media and Telecommunications Forum May 18 & 19

TMT Forum

Legal and tax issues are among the key challenges facing TMT professionals and the focus of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Forum to be held May 18 & 19 at the Hotel Pullman London St Pancreas.

In-house counsel, private practice and advisers will have an opportunity to discuss market trends in the TMT sector, new technologies, the regulatory landscape and ways to support businesses through their next challenges. The conference will also allow participants to determine where to base their value chain for tax and VAT purposes, and analyse recent M&A deals and new markets within the TMT sector to pinpoint global opportunities and threats.

More than 40 speakers will be featured at the conference, which is jointly hosted for the first time by IFLR, International Tax Review and Managing IP. An overview of the conference and registration can be found here.

Jacqueline Minor, the European Commission's Head of Representation in the United Kingdom since 2013, is the keynote speaker. Minor is very much in demand as Prime Minister David Cameron seeks to renegotiate Britain's membership of the European Union. Minor is the European Commission's spokesperson in the UK and has overall responsibility for the UK Representation and the activities of the three offices in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The TMT Forum agenda for May 18 includes the keynote speech on EU plans for the digital single economy, and panel discussions on European regulation, the risks involved in cross-border operations and where to base value chains. There will also be panels focused on preparing for the future, the role of counsel in innovation and protecting, and managing and licensing IP. The day concludes with a discussion on the unitary patent and unified patent court and a networking drinks reception.

May 19 kicks off with a discussion on safeguarding and making the most out of data, TMT market trends, global opportunities and threats, and competition law.
