Caroline Silberztein, head of transfer pricing at the OECD, and Donald Korb, chief counsel of the US Internal Revenue Service, are two of the big names down to speak at International Tax Review's Global Transfer Pricing Forum 2004 in Berlin. The event takes place at the Ritz-Carlton hotel on Tuesday September 29 and Wednesday September 30.
Korb, who is interviewed for the cover story of this month's International Tax Review, will give the keynote address to open the conference. Silberztein will be a panellist on transfer pricing and permanent establishment issues later on day one.
The event will cover how transfer pricing relates to topics such as risk management, outsourcing and marketing intangibles. A session on transfer pricing in emerging markets will open day two.
This is the fourth year of the forum, which is sponsored by KPMG. Dan Peters, KPMG's head of transfer pricing, and Steve Harris, the firm's head of transfer pricing resolution, and many other senior KPMG professionals from around the world will take part in the event.
The magazine welcomes back many of the speakers who have proved popular at the previous editions of the event in Amsterdam, Paris and New York.
Guy Kersch of Pfizer, will participate in the session on transfer pricing in the EU on day one; Theo Keijzer, of Shell International, will speak, alongside Silberztein, on transfer pricing and permanent establishment issues on the same day. Heinz-Klaus Kroppen, of Deloitte, and Monique van Herksen, of Baker & McKenzie, are also returning.
Newcomers to the Forum include Huib Brouwer of GE, Sarah Fahy, head of tax for Sony Entertainment Europe and Sony Electronics and Mattias Geurts of Deutsche Bank.
The EU transfer pricing focus, on day one, will include KPMG's Dirk van Stappen and Guglielmo Maisto, of Maisto e Associati, both members of the EU Joint Transfer Pricing Forum, and two staff from the European Commission.
