Enter now for the Americas Tax Awards
The research process for the Americas Tax Awards has now begun.
This year the presentation dinner will be held in New York on September 27. The awards, which will be presented for the seventh time, will go to the in-house teams and the private-practice firms that can demonstrate examples of the most innovative client work in North and South America between June 2011 and June 2012. The winners and runners-up will also be presented in the November 2012 issue of International Tax Review.
Awards will be presented to private-practice firms in 11 jurisdictions:
Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela
and six metropolitan areas in the US:
US: Chicago; Houston & Dallas; Los Angeles; New York, San Francisco Area and Washington, DC.

This year, in an expansion of the awards that are presented for in-house teams, four - one each for direct and indirect tax in North and in South America will go to the tax departments at multinationals that can show the significant input and impact they made to their companies tax affairs during the year. There are separate entry forms for in-house teams to fill out for these awards.
The deal information from submissions made for World Tax 2013 will be considered as a firm's entry for the awards. However, you are free to make a fresh submission for the awards as some categories, such as tax policy and innovation, are not covered precisely in World Tax.
You must have done either to be eligible, that is, make a World Tax submission or enter separately for the awards.
To decide the winners, International Tax Review's team of journalists will undertake detailed research from a variety of sources. Submissions from firms are a vital part of this research. The magazine's editorial staff will also consult a large number of tax advisers, private-practice lawyers, tax executives and in-house counsel to gain their perspective on the ground-breaking work of the June 2011 to June 2012 period.
Shortlists will be compiled based on the submissions and research, and the winners will be chosen after a poll of international tax executives.
The awards will be judged according to:
Size (Not conclusive, though it does indicate what a tax department/firm is capable of taking on)
Innovation (Did the solution the firm employed show something more than the straightforward answer that is commonly used?)
Complexity (Did the matter address tax issues that were out of the ordinary and what ingenuity did the tax department/firm show to solve them?)

If there is no entry form below, this means you do not have to make a separate entry. This applies to many of the regional awards. Your national submission will be considered for these purposes.

Please complete the entry forms and send to Ralph Cunningham by Tuesday July 17 or notify him by the same date if you wish to use your World Tax 2013 submission as your awards entry.
