Switzerland’s Federal Council picks de Watteville as new state secretary for tax

Jacques de Watteville will succeed Michael Ambühl as state secretary for international financial and tax matters in Switzerland’s Federal Department of Finance on November 1.

The lawyer and economist has been involved in the development of Switzerland's international financial and tax policies since 1988, taking part in numerous international negotiations with the EU, the OECD and the US. He was head of the economic and financial affairs division of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs between 1997 and 2003 and as an ambassador and head of the Swiss Mission to the EU in Brussels between 2007 and 2012, he was involved in negotiations and discussions on tax matters and institutional issues.
