Stephanie is a partner and the head of Indirect Tax Process & Technology at KPMG in Germany, based in Berlin and Frankfurt. Stephanie has more than 15 years of professional experience in advising on indirect tax issues across a range of industry sectors, including retail, automotive, financial services and telecommunications. Her focus is on advising multinationals performing predominantly cross-border transactions on a wide range of issues.

She has a proven track record of delivering value creation projects within Germany. The key aspects of her activities are projects regarding the review, design and implementation of VAT processes in ERP systems, IT processed VAT reviews, advice and audit of internal processes and controls and advising on indirect tax governance structures to embed the appropriate indirect tax process and controls in the underlying business.

Additionally, Stephanie has extensive experience on VAT related advice within restructuring transactions as well as post-merger integration projects. She has considerable experience in leading global projects and is familiar with various indirect tax regimes throughout Europe, Canada, Latin America, Australia, India and Japan.

Stephanie is also the partner in charge of KPMG's Global Process and Technology team which recognises the market need for VAT specialists with a strong understanding of process, systems and technology. The global team comprises of individuals who are SAP trained and qualified, have worked with the major tax engine providers and have set up and worked in centers of excellence, with strong technical skills.

Eveline Beer, an attorney at law and certified tax consultant, advises multinational companies on both domestic and international VAT issues, with the majority of her clients operating in the retail sectors. Eveline's work on international projects includes undertaking VAT reviews and advising clients on how to reorganise their supply chain. In this respect, she works closely with colleagues in other countries. Eveline regularly holds in-house VAT seminars for the clients and assists them on-site with their day-to-day business as well as in the course of VAT audits.

Johan has more than 20 years of experience in all areas of VAT. He is a partner at Deloitte Germany in Frankfurt am Main.

Having been with Deloitte since 2002, Johan is Deloitte Germany's category leader for indirect tax. He leads a group of 70 people located in eight offices across Germany. He is a member of Deloitte's EMEA and Global Indirect Tax Steering Committee. In this role Johan is responsible for the cooperation of the German indirect tax group with Deloitte's international member firm network, serving multinational and global clients.

Before joining Deloitte, Johan worked for Arthur Andersen for seven years in Brussels and Frankfurt. Before that, he served for two and one-half years as a tax inspector at the Belgian VAT authority in the Brussels region.

Johan advises international and global clients in a wide variety of industries. His focus is on the financial services industry, advising multinational investment banks on many occasions. He also advises clients doing business in the manufacturing and consumer business industries. Johan has vast expertise in planning and coordinating large multinational engagements, focusing on efficient compliance, VAT-aligned supply chain and identification of VAT opportunities and risks (indirect tax review projects). Johan has also assisted clients in complex tax audits and tax litigation.

Johan has a master's degree in administrative sciences and a bachelor's degree in fiscal sciences. He is a Belgian certified tax consultant (Belastingconsulent). Johan is a frequent speaker at national and international tax seminars. Since 2012, he has lectured at the University of Wuerzburg, teaching VAT for masters candidates. His mother tongue is Dutch (Flemish) and he is fluent in English, German and French.

Eduard Forster has more than 16 years of experience in domestic and international tax covering a wide range of international tax planning issues. He is focused on VAT matters in general and on supply chain management as well as real estate in particular.

Eduard advises medium-sized and small enterprises as well as corporations related to domestic and foreign groups. He managed various VAT projects (for example improving cash position, avoiding registrations, increasing the ratio of input VAT deduction, tax code automatisation and supply chain management, among others).

Eduard has a master's degree in economics and a doctorate with a VAT focused thesis ("Public bodies and VAT harmonisation"). He is a certified German tax expert and is a regular speaker at external tax conferences (including EUROFORUM, Mangement Circle) as well as at various Deloitte client seminars (for example, the Annual Year End Tax Seminar and VAT Roadshows). He is a permanent author with Der Umsatz-Steuer-Berater and has authored articles in various tax journals.

Thomas Küffner is an attorney at law, a certified tax consultant and a certified public accountant. He represents clients in VAT matters when dealing with the German tax authorities and before the tax courts, the German Federal Finance Court and the European Court of Justice. His work primarily focuses on assisting clients in extrajudicial appeal proceedings as well as the provision of VAT advice to non-profit organisations and public bodies.

Thomas has previously worked as a tax officer for various taxation authorities. His past positions include being a tax officer at the higher regional tax office Munich for income tax and VAT as well as a tax policy assistant to the head of the German parliament in Berlin. Since 2008, in addition to his partnership at KMLZ, Thomas has been professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Deggendorf.

Ronny Langer advises clients on all VAT matters in Germany as well as abroad. He studied tax law while working for the German tax authorities and commenced his career as a tax inspector. He was subsequently accredited as a certified tax consultant and joined a large tax consultancy firm where he supported the corporate tax department of a DAX-30-group on-site and later headed the VAT department.

Ronny specialises in international VAT law and works closely with colleagues in other countries. The majority of his clients consist of multinational large and medium sized businesses. He regularly undertakes VAT reviews and works on international projects. During the course of his career, Ronny has accumulated extensive knowledge of and experience in the types of VAT issues which present themselves to businesses on a daily basis. Another key focus of his expertise is advice on all issues regarding e-invoicing and VAT related issues in SAP.

Ronny regularly speaks at professional events and conducts in-house client VAT training sessions. He is also a member of various national and international VAT research groups and VAT clubs.

Stefan Maunz advises clients on all VAT matters and represents them in dealings with the tax authorities and before the tax courts, the German Federal Finance Court and the European Court of Justice. The majority of his clients consist of larger medium-sized businesses, German corporate groups and foreign companies of all sizes. He regularly lectures on VAT topics at both the domestic and international level. A further important focus is advising on customs issues, in particular, those connected with import VAT. Furthermore, he has extensive experience with e-commerce clients.

Christian Salder, an attorney at law and certified tax consultant, joined KMLZ in 2009 and in January 2014 was appointed partner. He advises clients on national and international VAT issues with a very broad experience in real estate. Christian also advises on customs and excise duty matters. A further focus is the representation of clients in dealings with the tax authorities and before the tax courts. His clients include both mid-sized businesses as well as international enterprises, in particular from the automotive, defence and metal-working sectors.

Before joining KMLZ, Christian spent several years working in the VAT department of a large tax consultancy firm. He is a postgraduate degree lecturer at the University of Münster and regularly speaks on VAT and Customs topics at seminars and conferences.

Peter Schalk is a partner in indirect tax services at KPMG in Germany based in Cologne and co-leads the Indirect Tax Services team of the Western region of Germany (Duesseldorf, Cologne, Essen, Dortmund, Bielefeld). Peter has worked in VAT for more than 16 years, largely in practice but started his indirect tax career as a tax inspector with the German tax authorities. Over that time Peter has accumulated a great deal of knowledge and experience.

Aside from his practice leadership role, Peter is the leader of KPMG's Global Indirect Tax Services Automotive network and a member of the Global Indirect Tax Services leadership team. Peter's clients are mainly in the automotive sector (original equipment manufacturers, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers) and the commercial vehicle and manufacturing sectors.

Peter also advises on process and technology projects, including ERP reviews, big data analysis, shared service centre reviews, VAT outsourcing projects, process reviews, risk management systems for indirect taxes and indirect tax compliance management systems. Peter works closely with his clients to ensure that the appropriate processes and controls are embedded in the underlying business.

Peter has considerable experience of advising clients on a multinational basis and has led many national and international projects.

Peter has written articles in German technical publications and is speaker in client seminars and international workshops.

Karsten Schuck is a tax partner in the Frankfurt office of KPMG in Germany where he also serves as the head of KPMG in Germany's indirect tax practice.

Having more than 20 years of experience working in and for the financial services industry, Karsten's operational focus is on tax advice for banks and financial sector clients (in particular asset finance companies) in connection with national and international corporate tax and indirect tax (VAT) issues. His service experience includes the establishment, acquisition and restructuring of banks, planning and consultancy related to ongoing business activities as well as tax compliance services. Being in charge of providing tax advice to a number of globally operating clients, Karsten has a detailed knowledge of specific tax issues in the financial services sector.

As an indirect tax practitioner working closely with clients' in-house advisers and other professionals, much of Karsten's work on VAT surrounds local and international VAT projects in the financial services sector including, but not limited to, VAT compliance and savings reviews, tax due diligences, restructuring projects, also with cross-border implications, advisory services on funds management and on portfolio transactions.

Oliver Zugmaier is a lawyer and specialist lawyer for tax law and represents clients in VAT-related issues before revenue authorities, fiscal courts and the Federal Fiscal Court, as well as the European Court of Justice. Also known as an "adviser for advisers", Oliver offers VAT advice to tax advisers, accountants and lawyers. Another key focus of his expertise is advice on all issues regarding fiscal offences and criminal defence regarding the interface with VAT.

He is a deputy member of the VAT Expert Group of the European Commission. After working as a scientific assistant at the chair for tax law at the University of Augsburg, Oliver worked as a lawyer in a medium-sized tax adviser's and lawyer's office.
