The agreement facilitates the cross-border flow of trade, investment, financial activities and technical know-how between the two countries. It aims to remove the burden of double tax on income earned in one country by a resident of the other. There are also provisions to reduce/exempt tax on certain types of income. The agreement will come into force once both countries have ratified it and will apply to income from the year after it comes into force.
