Jorge Sanchez Hernandez
Jorge Sanchez Hernandez is a tax partner at Deloitte Mexico. He is located in the Mexico City office and is a specialist in direct and indirect taxes. Jorge has gained vast experience in tax consulting and tax compliance over the course of the past 29 years. During all this time he has worked in international accounting firms (for Arthur Andersen between 1985 and 2002 and for Deloitte Mexico from 2002 to the present).
Jorge has worked with companies in all kinds of business (mining, oil & gas, railroad, communications, media, among others) and all kinds of activities (manufacturing, commercial, retail and services). His clients have been local corporations and subsidiaries or branches of foreigner entities. He has wide experience in international transactions. He has been involved in many M&A transactions, due diligences, restructurings, rulings, compliance projects, and so on. He serves several of the major companies in Mexico.
Jorge is a CPA graduate from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City and has been certified by the Mexican Accounts Institute, and certified as tax expert by the same institute.
He is the author of several tax analyses published in accountants' publications and co-author of several tax books. Jorge has been speaker in several institutions, universities and other organisations regarding tax matters.
Jorge is a member of the Mexican Accountants Institute (IMCP), member of the Mexican Accountants College (CCPM) and has been member of its Tax Commission from 1997?2005, holding the role of vice president from 2004?2006 (now a me member of its board). He is also a member (since 2002) of the Mexican Tax Academy, and acted as its president from 2012?2014.

Miguel is a partner of Deloitte Mexico. He has served multinationals by delivering tax solutions in a wide range of situations including expansions, acquisitions, dispositions, cash repatriations, and business optimisations focusing on merger and acquisition processes. With solid knowledge in VAT and corporate taxation, he has developed and implemented effective strategies in areas such as tax attributes and effective tax rate management, tax-free reorganisations and cross-border financing, and transfer of goods and intangibles.
Miguel is a graduate from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), Mexico City, Mexico, He is a PhD(c) and holds a master's degree from Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, Madrid, Spain. He is also a certified public accountant and holds a professional certificate in tax from Instituto Mexicano de Contadores Públicos.
He has been invited to the World Business Dialogue held at the University of Cologne, Germany and the International Management Symposium held at St. Gallen, Switzerland. He has frequently lectured at the graduate and post-graduate level at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), and participated on multiple conferences. He is a member of the Mexican Public Accountants College and the International Fiscal Association.
Cecilia Montaño is a Deloitte Mexico indirect tax partner and Mexican and Latin American service line leader, specialised in foreign trade, customs and indirect tax. She has more than 18 years of experience in foreign trade. Cecilia became a Deloitte Mexico partner in 2008.
Before joining Deloitte, Cecilia spent several years as a logistics and customs compliance manager in the private sector.
Cecilia helps multinational companies identify indirect tax opportunities and has worked with clients around the world on projects involving due diligence, customs audits and tax strategies relative to investments in Mexico, among others.
Cecilia has extensive experience in compliance consulting. She works with clients operating across many industries including the automotive, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, mining, energy and manufacturing sectors, among others.
She received a bachelor's degree in foreign trade and customs from the Instituto Teconólogico de Monterrey, and is about to conclude a master's in business administration, with a foreign trade specialisation, from the same institution.
Cecilia is vice president of the Mexican Importers and Exporters Association, and actively participates in the most relevant associations in Mexico related to foreign trade and customs.
She has a strong relationship with the Mexican government in topics related to foreign trade and customs and regularly participates strategically with them.
