Miguel Llovera, Deloitte Mexico, is a partner. He founded the mergers and acquisitions tax practice and leads the energy and natural resources industry service line for tax in Mexico.

Miguel is a PhD(c) and holds a master's degree from Antonio de Nebrija University, Spain, and a diploma in finance from Universidad Panamericana, Mexico and has also studied world hydrocarbon fiscal regimes at the CWC School of Energy in the UK. He is a graduate of Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), Mexico. He is also a certified public accountant and holds a professional certificate in tax from the Institute of Public Accountants.

Miguel has been invited to the World Business Dialogue at the University of Cologne, Germany and the International Management Symposium, Switzerland. He has lectured at graduate and post-graduate level and at multiple local and international conferences, as well as authoring several articles. He is a member of the Mexican Public Accountants College and the International Fiscal Association, as well as the Mexican Institute of Finance Specialists (IMEF).

Cecilia Montaño, Deloitte Mexico, is an indirect tax partner and Mexican and Latin American service line leader, specialised in foreign trade, customs and indirect tax. She has more than 18 years of experience in foreign trade. Cecilia became a partner in Deloitte Mexico in 2008.

Before joining Deloitte, Cecilia spent several years as a logistics and customs compliance manager in the private sector.

Cecilia helps multinational companies identify indirect tax opportunities and has worked with clients around the world on projects involving due diligence, customs audits and tax strategies relative to investments in Mexico, among others.

Cecilia has extensive experience in compliance consulting. She works with clients operating across many industries including the automotive, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, mining, energy and manufacturing sectors, among others.

She received a bachelor's degree in foreign trade and customs from the Instituto Teconólogico de Monterrey, and is about to conclude a master's in business administration, with a foreign trade specialisation, from the same institution.

Cecilia is vice president of the Mexican Importers and Exporters Association, and actively participates in the most relevant associations in Mexico related to foreign trade and customs.

She has a strong relationship with the Mexican government in topics related to foreign trade and customs and regularly participates strategically with them.

Juan Pizano, Deloitte Mexico, is a customs and global trade partner based in Mexico City. He has been with Deloitte Mexico since 2015. Prior to joining Deloitte Mexico, Juan was the partner in charge of trade and customs in another Big 4 firm. For the past 18 years, he has been involved in projects aimed to optimise global supply chains, from indirect tax and customs perspectives, as well as customs compliance.

His experience includes customs valuation, tariff classification, trade programmes, customs compliance audits, VAT optimisation, free trade agreements, and the implementation of technology solutions for customs optimisation. Juan's experience is focused on the automotive, tobacco, and manufacturing industries.

Jorge Sanchez, Deloitte Mexico, is a tax partner based in the Mexico City office. He is a specialist in direct and indirect taxes. He is a CPA graduate from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

Jorge has worked with companies from all kinds of industries (mining, oil and gas, railroad, communications, media, etc.) and all kinds of activities (manufacturing, commercial, real state, services). His clients include local corporations and subsidiaries or branch of foreigner entities. He has wide experience in international transactions.

Jorge has experience in tax consulting and tax compliance for the past 30 years. During all this time he has worked in international accounting firms.

He has been involved in many M&A transactions, due diligence, restructuring, rulings, compliance projects, etc. In recent years, Jorge has participated in different cross-border restructurings, coordinating with several countries.

He is the author of several tax analyses published in accountancy publications. Jorge has been a speaker at several institutions, universities and other organisations regarding tax matters.

Jorge is a member of the Mexican Accountants Institute, member of the Mexican Accountants College, and has been a member of its Tax Commission from 1997 to 2005 and vice president from 2004 to 2006. He is a former member of the board. He is also a member and former president of the Mexican Tax Academy from 2002 to 2004.
