Serbia: Serbia joins Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information

intl-updates

On March 12 2018, Serbia joined the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (Global Forum) in order to combat tax evasion through international tax cooperation.

Members of the Global Forum take advantage of an extensive technical assistance programme which helps tax authorities in making the best use of cross-border information-sharing channels.

As a member of the Global Forum, Serbia will now be subject to a monitoring and peer review process to ensure it properly implements and complies with the international standards for information exchange.

Serbia will have to apply two internationally agreed standards of transparency and exchange of information in the tax area – the exchange of information on request (EIOR) and the automatic exchange of information (AEOI). Members of the Global Forum collaborate with Serbia to ensure effective implementation of the international tax standards and mobilise its resources to meet sustainable development goals.
