New keynote speaker announced for Global Transfer Pricing Forum

A valuation specialist from the World Customs Organisation (WCO) will give a keynote address at International Tax Review’s Global Transfer Pricing Forum in Amsterdam on September 15 and 16.

How customs valuation and transfer pricing should be treated has grown in importance in recent years. The WCO and the OECD held joint conferences in 2006 and 2007 to look at the topic, not least when Customs arrive at a different value for a product to transfer pricing specialists.

Ian Cremer, a former official with HM Revenue & Customs in the UK, has been working at the WCO since February 2009 as a technical officer in the tariff and trade affairs directorate, specialising in customs valuation.

Cremer was the UK representative at both the EC Customs Code Valuation Committee and the WCO Technical Committee on Customs Valuation, so his speech on September 16 should attract plenty of interest.

Theo Keijzer, head of the International Chamber of Commerce’s tax commission, and Bruno Gibert, chairman of the EU Joint Transfer Pricing Forum, are the other keynote speakers at the two –day event which is being held for the 10th time this year.

The rest of the conference will see other leading tax directors, officials and advisers analysing the key issues for transfer pricing managers today and giving their insights on the best transfer pricing strategies.

The foremost transfer pricing specialists will tackle issues such as:

  • The future of the arm’s-length standard;

  • Technology-based IP and transfer pricing;

  • Tax-efficient supply chain management; and

  • Dispute resolution

This is in addition to the, by now regular sessions on financial transactions, marketing intangibles and emerging markets developments.
