Catarina has an extensive background in tax matters covering Portugal and other EU member states as well as Portuguese speaking countries such as Angola, Mozambique and East Timor. Catarina began her professional career in Deloitte's indirect tax division. She left Deloitte to join Vieira de Almeida's tax practice, which she worked for almost a decade and as a managing associate. In 2016, Catarina founded her own law office, Belim, focusing on corporate and tax matters.

Catarina provides multi-skilled assistance to clients, covering practical and comprehensive legal, tax and customs advice, representation in litigation cases and active assistance on compliance, reporting, invoicing and licensing matters.

Catarina is a renowned tax specialist, featured in International Tax Review's Indirect Tax Leaders guide for Portugal consecutively since 2012. At international level, Catarina proudly participates in specialised bodies such as the International VAT Association (IVA), the Global Legal Customs Association (GLCA) and the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA). Within AIJA, Catarina has just joined the tax commission think thank for the future of tax legal services. Since 2015, Catarina has been a certified arbitrator for VAT and excise duties matters next to the Portuguese Administrative and Tax Arbitration Centre, Ministry of Justice.

Catarina is a frequent speaker on tax and customs issues and is active in promoting events for the discussion and further development of these matters.
