Miroslaw Barszcz: Key role in tax compliance

Miroslaw Barszcz has left the Warsaw office of Baker & McKenzie to join the Government of Poland as vice minister of finance.

Barszcz spent nine years as a VAT specialist at a number of big four international tax consultancy firms, working at PricewaterhouseCoopers for two years before joining Baker & McKenzie as a partner in the firm's tax practice in 2005.

During his time at Baker & McKenzie he advised clients across the service and manufacturing sectors and for national and local government in Poland. He also worked on some of the largest real estate transactions in Central Europe and has been a tax adviser to five of the largest IT companies in Poland. Barszcz also played a key role in coordinating and ensuring tax compliance for businesses in the Polish telecommunications, banking and manufacturing sectors in the lead up to and post-EU accession.
