They have to deal with an area that includes well-developed tax systems and others that are rushing to catch up with international practice. The different languages used in Latin America make dealing with a company's tax affairs there a demanding task. The unpredictability of the rules, though this is not a hazard that is exclusive to the region, ensures that tax executives are under pressure to keep up. Added to that is the battle with head office for more people and a bigger budget to achieve better results.
