HMRC appoints new tax assurance commissioner

Jim Harra 100 x 90

Jim Harra has replaced HM Revenue Custom's executive chair Edward Troup as the tax assurance commissioner following organisational changes within the UK tax authority.

As of October 13, Harra took over the position from Troup who is relinquishing the tax assurance role now that he is executive chair with a wider responsibility for HMRC.

With his wealth of tax expertise and experience, Harra will oversee the assurance and dispute governance arrangements that allow the UK parliament and the public to be confident that HMRC secures the right tax under the law when resolving tax disputes.
