Orrick hires Denny for London tax practice

Edward Denny has joined Orrick as a partner in the firm’s tax practice group in London.

Denny, who was formerly with Norton Rose Fulbright, advises public and private companies on the tax aspects of corporate finance transactions and structures, in particular M&A . He has recently advised on the tax issues in connection with:

  • HSBC’s £12.5 billion ($16 billion) underwritten rights issue;

  • Iberia’s £4.4 billion merger with British Airways;

  • AXA’s £2.75 billion disposal of its UK life insurance business and

  • Delta’s acquisition of a £220 million stake in Virgin Atlantic
