Timothy Gillis, KPMG's global head of indirect tax services, has more
than 25 years of professional experience as an auditor, lawyer, and tax
professional. He has served a diverse range of clients in industries
such as pharmaceuticals, consumer products, restaurants, retail,
financial services, telecommunications, automotive, aerospace, and
textile manufacturing.
Tim began his career as an auditor with Arthur Young & Company,
and practised law for seven years with the law firm of Sutherland,
Asbill & Brennan in Atlanta. He joined KPMG in the US as a partner
in 1998 and served as a client service partner, a national service line
leader, and a regional managing partner.
Tim is admitted to the bar as an attorney in Georgia and is certified
as a CPA (certified public accountant) in Georgia and the District of
Columbia. He holds a JD, magna cum laude, from Georgetown
University Law Center. Since 2008, he has served as an adjunct professor
of law teaching global indirect tax at Georgetown University Law
Center.
Tim was elected to the KPMG board of directors in 2008, where he
chairs the Professional Practice, Ethics & Compliance Committee. In
2010, he also joined the Americas Board. Tim is also a trustee of the
KPMG Foundation.
In the community, Tim serves as chair of the board of the American
Heart Association (Greater Washington Region) and as a director on the
board of ThanksUSA, an organisation that provides scholarships for
military children and spouses.
