Alvarez & Marsal Taxand UK adds two

Alvarez & Marsal Taxand UK has appointed two new managing directors in London.

Charles Beer joins the firm from KPMG, while Jonathan Hornby is promoted from the position of senior director.

Beer is a specialist in real estate, corporate and international tax. He served at KPMG for 20 years, leading the real estate tax practice and founding the firm’s international real estate network.

Beer has been involved in the development of tax policy in relation to real estate as well as advising on transactions, and was a member of both the Tax Law Review Committee and the technical group that worked on the introduction of UK real estate investment trusts.

Hornby, who has more than 16 years of corporate and international tax experience, moves up from senior director to become a managing director at the firm.

He advises on all aspects of corporate taxation, focusing on real estate, international reorganisations, M&A, tax efficient financing and thin capitalisation issues.
