Velten to join Deloitte Southeast Asia

Deloitte’s tax practice in Southeast Asia is set to expand, with the hire of Michael Velten as partner, regional CEO Chaly Mah has announced.

Velten will join the firm on May 2 2013, and will be based in the Singapore office.

He is group head of tax for Asia Pacific at CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets, one of Asia’s leading and longest-running independent brokerage and investment groups. Velten has also headed the tax function of a leading global investment bank in the past and was a partner at both PwC and Baker & McKenzie in Singapore.

He will take a lead role in Asia Pacific and Southeast Asia in implementing the Financial Services Industry strategy for tax.
