Bird & Bird has poached Anne Quenedey from Andersen Legal to head up a new tax team in Paris. Quenedey will be assisted by Cyrille Boquet and Carolle Thain - who both join Bird & Bird from the tax department of Arthur Andersen International.

The hire of a French team represents further growth of Bird & Bird's international practice. The firm raided Andersen's Dutch arm around five months ago to build a tax capability in The Hague.

Frederique Dupuis-Toubol, managing partner of Bird & Bird's Paris office, said: "Our clients, many of whom are international, require the full range of corporate support and a key service is tax. Anne and her team have very strong international tax planning experience and this will be a key area for development together with our established tax practices in the UK and The Hague."
