UK consults on stamp duty in Islamic finance
The UK tax authorities have started a consultation on whether the issuance of a commercial sukuk should be exempt from stamp duty land tax (SDLT). A sukuk is an Islamic financial certificate, equivalent to a bond that complies with the requirements of Sharia'a Islamic law.
