Stephen Timms has been appointed the new financial secretary for the UK Treasury.
He will be responsible for the strategic oversight of taxation as a whole, including overall responsibility for the finance bill, HM Revenue and Customs, and european and international tax issues.
This is Timms' third spell as financial secretary and was most recently chief secretary to the Treasury from 2006-2007.
Other previous ministerial positions include; minister for competitiveness at the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform, and the minister for e-commerce and competitiveness in the Department for Trade and Industry.
Timms replaces former secretary, Jane Kennedy.
