Skadden, Arps Advises Williams Communications

Williams Communications Group, the US internet and data provider, has launched a $783 million public offering of shares, as well as $2 billion worth of high-yield notes.

The launch accompanied $725 million of investment by SBC Communications, Intel and Telefonos de Mexico.

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom advised Williams. Andrew Kenoe and Kenneth Betts from the firm's Chicago office handled tax.

Davis, Polk & Wardwell has been advising Salomon Smith Barney, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch in connection with the deal. Partner Michael Mollerus and associate Darrell Hall dealt with tax matters.
