US law firm Winston & Strawn has promoted tax lawyers David Colin and Karen Kowalski to partner. Colin has experience with optimisation of indirect taxes in cross-border transactions, VAT advisory matters, negotiation with tax authorities, and due diligence counselling.
Kowalski has represented clients before the Internal Revenue Service on a variety of tax controversy matters, including corporate reorganisations, adjustments to partnership items, environmental-related expenses, leasing transactions, and the defence of purported tax shelters and their related penalties. She also has experience with public and private debt, equity offerings and tax accounting.
