In the recently launched 2018 tax plan, the Dutch government has proposed to narrow the definition of medicine for the application of the reduced VAT rate. Jan Sanders, indirect tax manager at RELX, discusses the proposal in the light of the growing appetite, at EU level, for simplifying the structure of VAT rates.
