Stephen Chima Arubike

Stephen Chima Arubike is a Partner at G Elias. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar after obtaining his Barrister-at-Law qualification from the Nigerian Law School. He graduated with First Class Honours from the Nigerian Law School and was recognised as one of the institution's overall best graduating students.

Stephen's practice focuses on tax, corporate law and restructuring, and dispute resolution. He advises clients on the tax aspects of complex corporate and financial transactions, helping to structure deals in a tax-efficient manner. He also represents clients in significant tax disputes before the Tax Appeal Tribunal, superior courts in Nigeria, and regulatory authorities during tax audits and investigations.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Lagos Court of Arbitration, and the London Court of International Arbitration.

• Advised a Nigerian subsidiary of an international carbonated drinks manufacturer on compliance issues arising from the Nigerian transfer pricing regime and provided alternative operational structures.
• Represented a leading Nigerian consumer products company in tax investigations initiated by the Federal tax authority following its corporate restructuring.
• Advised wholly owned subsidiaries of a leading global investment bank on its investment in Nigerian telecommunications companies and subsequent tax audits and investigations involving income tax, VAT, withholding tax and transfer pricing compliance.
