Niyazi Çömez has been serving as a tax services partner in Deloitte Turkey since 2002, offering services in local and international tax, mergers and acquisitions to many companies in various sectors. Mr. Çömez started his professional career in the Ministry of Finance's Board of Tax Inspectors in 1985. He was appointed to the General Directorate of Revenues in 1997 while he was working at the same Board as Chief Tax Inspector. He joined Deloitte Turkey as of the end of September 1999.
He lectured at various OECD tax training programs in Ankara, Budapest and Vienna. He participated in many international conferences related to his duty in the General Directorate of Revenues. He represented Turkey in the working groups established in OECD within the scope of "Prevention of Harmful Tax Competition" and "Transfer Pricing" until his departure.
Mr. Çömez, an active member of the Tax Council, TÜSİAD (Association of Turkish Industrialist and Bussinessmen) Tax Working Group and Turkish Insurance Reinsurance Companies Association Tax Working Group, and continues to contribute to these groups as well as other non-governmental organizations with his knowledge and expertise in his profession.
