Ivonne Montaño has provided tax advisory services to foreign and Mexican pension funds, sovereign funds, investment funds, private equity funds, financial institutions, non-for-profit organisations, multinational enterprises, foreign clients with permanent establishments in Mexico, Mexican REITs and Infrastructure MLPs, insurance companies, corporations and individuals on their daily operations, mergers and acquisitions (either share or asset deals), corporate reorganisations, financings, capital markets transactions, real estate, energy projects, foods and beverages tax obligations, and digital inbound and outbound investments.
In addition, Ivonne has coordinated teams in tax audits, refund procedures and private letter ruling processes before the Mexican tax authorities. Similarly, she has performed tax policy-related activities, such as advisory, and promoting and drafting administrative tax rule proposals.
She obtained a BA (honours) at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2014, and was candidate for the best academic record LLB 2009–2013. She then studied for a postgraduate degree in tax law at the Escuela Libre de Derecho. She also holds an LLM in international tax law from King´s College London.
She is an active member of Abogadas MX and the Women of IFA Network (WIN) Committee of the International Fiscal Association (IFA). Ivonne has been shortlisted as a ‘Rising Star in Tax’ by the Women in Business Law Awards 2023.
