David is the Managing Partner at DDTC. He is an experienced practitioner in all aspects of Indonesian taxation with more than 19 years of experience. His advocacy skills are well known both during the dispute resolution process with the Indonesian tax authority and the tax court.
David guides and assists large multinational companies through every stage of complex disputes and litigation matters in Indonesia both technically and non-technically.
In 2019, all the cases that he handled during dispute resolution process with the Indonesian tax authority are closed or settled with agreements from both taxpayer and tax authority.
In 2020, he represented a client engaged in an e-commerce marketplace in tax court of appeal regarding VAT taxability of deemed online marketing services to the merchant of the marketplace. He argued that there was substantial violation of tax audit procedures. He also argued that the online marketing services was run under the algorithm of the online advertisement platform and not the client, yet for the benefit to attract user interaction with the client platform. Tax court judges were agreeable with the arguments and allow the appeal.
In addition to his involvement in large number of dispute resolution and litigation projects, David also involved in large-scale corporate restructuring, investment fund structures and related tax due diligence.
