The award recognises Levy’s pro bono legal services to non-profits. Levy leveraged tax expertise to guide new non-profit organisations through the process of incorporation and tax exemption. She led a team of Fried Frank attorneys who incorporated and secured tax exemption for Beyond the Bricks Project (a media and international community engagement initiative to encourage community-based solutions to increase educational and social outcomes for school-age Black males), as well as providing governance guidance and intellectual property advice.
Levy also provided tax advice to FoodFight – which works to revolutionise the way food education is taught in urban schools – and managed to secure the organisation a tax exemption.
