Miller & Chevalier has hired Loren Ponds, former tax counsel to the US House Committee on Ways and Means.

Ponds was instrumental in drawing up international tax provisions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA).

She has joined Miller & Chevalier’s tax department, where her focus will be on US tax reform and its implications for transfer pricing. She worked for EY’s national tax practice before focusing on public policy, including two years working directly with the Big 4 firm’s global TP leader in Germany.

During this time, Ponds advised multinational companies on tax planning projects involving intellectual property (IP), supply chain optimisation and restructuring. She also advised companies on advance pricing agreements and mutual agreement procedure (MAP) cases.
