Why Rick Santorum is promoting a manufacturing-friendly tax plan

Calling the health and state of the economy “obviously the number one issue in this campaign”, Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has announced his corporate tax plan, standing by his commitment to provide manufacturing businesses with significant incentives.
During an address to the Detroit Economic Club last week, Santorum set himself apart from fellow contender Mitt Romney by emphasising his own pledge to eliminate corporate tax on manufacturers entirely.
Each of the Republican candidates wants to reduce the corporate tax rate, but Santorum has gone further with his specific vow to introduce a 0% rate for manufacturers.
