New firms take home awards

Taxpayers and advisers came out on the night of September 29 for International Tax Review's fifth annual Americas Awards at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York.

International Tax Review's fifth annual Americas Awards, held at the end of September in New York, saw first-time winners in many categories and other firms reinforcing their reputation for quality and service in the delivery of tax advice by repeating their triumphs of previous years. More firms appeared on the list of winners for the first time because of the new awards that were presented this year.

Davis Polk & Wardwell won the award for North America tax firm of the year for the first time. PwC won the award for Latin America tax firm of the year.

For the first time this year, company tax functions were up for one of the awards.

The award, for the company tax department that displayed outstanding achievement in tax planning, compliance or dispute resolution, went to Dan Goff and his team at Xilinx, a technology company. Xilinx was successful earlier this year in...
