European awards winners take their prizes

The Alliance of Gleiss Lutz, Herbert Smith and Stibbe won the European Tax Firm of the Year for the first time at International Tax Review's European Tax Awards in London.
The Alliance of Gleiss Lutz, Herbert Smith and Stibbe group fought off competition from seven other firms to win the European Tax Firm of the Year award. The research and judging process for the awards involving tax directors from some of the biggest companies in Europe took place between January and March 2010.
Sixty one national and pan-European awards were presented during the dinner at the Dorchester Hotel in London on May 18.
PricewaterhouseCoopers retained its title as European Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year, Baker & McKenzie won the award for European Tax Disputes Firm of the Year and Taxand was the winner of the European Indirect Tax award.
The Best Newcomer prize, for firms that have had an international tax practice in Europe for five years or less, went to DLA Piper.
